The AstroCamp 2016 applications period ended yesterday, April 30. The first evaluation stage will take place during this week, and candidates shortlisted for interviews will be contacted on or before Saturday May 7.

The number of applications received is twice that of the 2015 edition, but we also expect to accept more students than the 10 selected last year. Some statistical curiosities about the candidates (the number are approximate):

• 55% of the candidates are boys and 45% girls
• 75% of the candidates are Portuguese and 25% from other countries
• 85% of the candidates study in public schools and 15% in private schools
• 30% of the candidates are in the 12th grade (the last year before university, in the Portuguese school system), 35% in the 11th grade (the year before) and 35% in the 10th grade.
